Newcomer’s Relocation News February 2012

SMOOTH ARRIVAL – EASY LIVING – SWIFT DEPARTURE

Dear friends,

I hope you have all enjoyed the holidays!

We finally have a true Scandinavian winter with snow and record low temperatures after a surprisingly green Christmas.

Last year was busy and some of our achievements were:

  • Growth exceeding our targeted 25%.
  • We co-founded the Allies in Relocation Excellence in Scandinavia (ARE).
  • Certification as a Partner to the Swedish Migration board giving our clients the benefit of an expedited process for work permits.
  • The team on-boarded a large number of new clients successfully while working diligently with our long time clients.
  • We changed our name to Newcomer’s Immigration & Relocation Sweden AB to reflect the passion we have for immigration. What can be more fun than politics, legal issues, economics and resource management all at the same time?
  • TIRA, ever striving for high quality, re-certified all members to ensure the standard remains very high. We are proud to represent Sweden in this group as one of  ”the Leading Mobility Specialists of the World”.
  • Successful EuRA Quality Seal renewal audit in January which is valid for the next two years.

Last year was terrific however we are anticipating that the economic downturn will reach us as well, Newcomer’s can’t go unaffected yet again. Good news is that we are in excellent financial shape to weather a storm.

We are thrilled that the yearly EuRA conference is in Stockholm in 2012! It was 100 years ago that the first Olympic games outside Greece was held here. This year we celebrate “The Year of Relocation Excellence” together with our ARE partners sharing the foundation of  international friendship and collaboration which is also the foundation for the International Olympic Committee.

We welcome you to Sweden as we are striving to make your stay a great one! Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

With sunny winter regards,

Lena Rekdal

Introducing “Allies in Relocation Excellence”

Our exciting news is also that together with Copenhagen Immigration & Relocation Solutions and Oslo Relocation we founded ALLIES IN RELOCATION EXCELLENCE (ARE). Our mission is to make the expat experience in Scandinavia fantastic and for the RMCs our unified pricing and unified programs make it easy to plan and work with us. It has started off really well and we hope it will be of great benefit to our clients. We are all TIRA members and the only ones that have qualified in each country and hold the prestigious EuRA Quality Seal. So quality is our guiding light.

ARE Conference

Together with our Scandinavian partners we had a four day stay in Järvsö, Hälsingland and combined hardcore business discussions with skiing, food, families.  And some of us went on a scooter safari! It was a true teambuilding experience that also opened up a new region not only for Newcomer’s staff but also to our Scandinavian partners that experienced an off the beaten track weekend in Sweden.

Newcomer’s CSR Program for 2012

We are working through our CSR policy this year and have chosen two organizations whose work we truly believe in and want to support. These two organizations are SOS Children’s Village International and World Childhood FoundationThey go about their work in different ways, however both do a world of good. Having been a longtime sponsor of the SOS Children’s Villages we now also want to partake in Childhood’s vision.

EuRA Conference - Meeting Guide and weekend trip?

A conference is all about meeting with partners and friends from around the globe. In order to help you along, we have created THE NEWCOMER’S MEETING GUIDE for you! Please email admin@newcomers.se to receive it as we have listed all the suitable places for a business to business meeting or a casual chat within walking distance. Don’t hesitate to also request for our ARE Scandinavian Highlights to make the most of your trip. To get around, we have an offer from our car leasing firm and they are offering a 50% discount on car rentals over the weekend of April 27-29th.

ARE Scandinavian Highlights – Skating & Skiing in Copenhagen/Oslo & Stockholm

In both Stockholm and Oslo you can go skiing in the city during the winter. You can either use your own skiis or rent. In Stockholm you go to Hammarbybacken and in Oslo to Holmenkollen. Holmenkollen has the world’s most modern ski jump. It’s also possible to visit the top of the ski tower, where you can enjoy a fantastic view of Oslo!  For more details look at our facebook page or customer support pages on www.newcomers.se and find our daily suggestions on the top hand corner.

Copenhagen is known for their great skating rinks around the city.  Michéle Bramstoft at Copenhagen Immigration & Relocation Solutions recommends Frederiksberg Runddel or Lindevangsparken.

More  companies choose Stockholm to open operations in and Sweden qualifies on the top 40 global strong economy region!

According to a Brooking report released on January 29th only four metro areas in North America and Western Europe-Houston, Dallas, Stuttgart, and Stockholm- managed to rank among the 40 strongest economies in 2010-2011. These developed metro economies exhibited a

healthy diversity that buoyed their recent performance relative to regional peers, including expansion in high value

commodities, manufacturing, and business and financial services sectors.

Facebook

One example of a recent company coming to Sweden is Facebook. They are planning on building a Server Farm in Luleå, Sweden which is 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle. As mentioned by Reuters and Invest Sweden, the data center will be the largest one of its kind in Europe. They are building it there to take advantage of the chilly climate in Luleå to cool down all the servers. These servers store and transmit all the status updates, pictures and applications that are used by Facebook members.

Sincerely,

The Newcomer’s Immigration & Relocation Team
