Newcomer’s Relocation NEWS

Winter 2010

SMOOTH ARRIVAL – EASY LIVING – SWIFT DEPARTURE

Dear Friends,

We have started the year 2010 off running!

Our yearly conference took place in January setting the agenda for 2010 and beyond. We are thrilled that we have had such a successful couple of years in spite of the economic climate, we have suffered nothing, apart from being shortstaffed. We have ambitious goals for the year and look forward to achieving them!

We are in the process of recruiting two new staff members to our team.  They are new hires and not replacements so we are looking forward to serving new and old clients while still maintaining high standards for training and development of staff.

With best regards,
Lena Rekdal

PS.We would like to congratulate the Swedish Olympic team who has done a great job this year, and especially for the Men’s Cross Country Relay team, who won the gold medal on Wednesday!

EuRA Quality Seal

EuRANewcomer’s has been audited and accredited with the EuRA Quality Seal. Less than 50 relocation companies worldwide have managed to achieve this status, which is based on the ISO 9001 process management model, the EuRA Quality Seal specifies the processes and KPI’s that reflect the very highest standards in relocation services.

Newcomer’s Furniture Rental

Furniture RentalNewcomer’s Furniture Rental – for years our clients have been surprised that there are no furniture rental companies in Sweden. In order to solve this problem we did a pilot at the end of last year arranging for short term furniture rental for two transferees while waiting for their household goods to be delivered. It was a  great success and we will continue to offer furniture rental for apartments in Stockholm. No other location will be added at this time. Don’t hesitate to ask for a quote.

Winter in Stockholm

View from our windowRecord low temperatures have been measured here this winter. On Monday we had -23 C and -8 F respectively in the suburbs in Stockholm. The winter hasn’t been this cold in 23 years and the amount of snow is incredible. Still in the end of February, people have snowdays, schools are closed, the subway doesn’t run and the news encourages people to work from home if at all possible.

Check out the view from our office window. Every day we are entertained and worried by the guys shoveling snow off the roof from the building opposite ours, we don’t want them to fall down.

Launch of New Website

Spring in Stockholm

Newcomer’s Relocation has kicked off 2010 with a new website, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our business. We have simplified the site, and we hope the new look will be easy to navigate for our clients and landlords. We are also looking forward to the upcoming launch of our brand-new, updated database for our housing bank. We are constantly updating our client support pages for our clients, and our goal is to add restaurants, tips, and current event for our clients as soon as we hear about them.

Please have a look at the new site and tell us what you think!

Best wishes for a successful 2010!

Sincerely,

Newcomer’s Relocation Team

Michèle

Newcomer’s
is a proud member of the premier TIRA global network. In this issue
we are featuring Michèle Bramstoft of Copenhagen Relocations, Denmark. Michèle
lists the five best things about Denmark below.

1) Bike Culture – It’s one of the first things you notice as a
foreigner…all the bikes! Copenhagen is a very bicycle friendly city that keeps
improving.  Biking is a great means of transport and it usually takes
under 20 minutes to get anywhere in the greater CPH. There are also internet
sites with bike path listings. Biking is a healthy way to clear your head and
get some fresh air and parking is always easy!

2) Candle Culture – Denmark is the leading consumer of candles in
the world! It’s also something one notices instantly, especially during the
winter months. Even clothing stores have lit candles. Candles help create the
ambiance of ‘hygge’ or coziness that is important in Danish culture.

3) Strong sense of security – in a country where the culture is to
let infants sleep outside even during the wintertime! You can also leave a
sleeping child in a pram outside the store or restaurant you are patronizing.
If the child starts crying, someone will come in and let you know!

4) Honest society - if you lose something on the street, chances
are very favorable that if you go back and look for it, it will still be there.
Lost wallets can be placed directly into post office boxes and the post will
make sure it gets back to its rightful owner. People also leave notes if they
find a watch or keys for example.

5) Bakeries & new food – Mmmmmm!!   The birth place
of the Danish, need I say more! The bread choice in Denmark is fantastic. There
are many healthy varieties from which to choose.
