Fall 2011

SMOOTH ARRIVAL – EASY LIVING – SWIFT DEPARTURE

Dear Friends,

What a year!

Newcomer’s is sound, healthy, wonderfully busy and very happy.

The immigration changes take up a lot of time, but we’ve had incredible improvements in handling times for our clients. Please see below for more details.

This fall has been a whirlwind of learning, travel and work. Johanna Lennartson and Susan Javaheri on our team recently went to the ERC conference in Denver and attended many meetings, including the TIRA AGM.

I spent almost a week in London at an Immigration conference which was very interesting and a good learning experience.

We are working towards ambitious goals this year. At our Q3 KPI follow up we are way ahead on some goals while on track with the others.

While working hard we try to have fun as well. As you may have seen we share our fun on our Facebook page where we have daily tips of things to do. And yes, we have tried most of it ourselves! We want to share our experiences so hopefully our clients can have the best of times in Sweden. We want everyone that leaves Sweden to remember it as a great place to live. We try to contribute in our small way to that feeling and experience.

Best wishes for a beautiful and nice autumn!

With best regards,
Lena Rekdal

Immigration News

Globe
We are very pleased of being a certified partner to the Migration board. For first time applications the promised max 7 day approval period s a reality!  The migration board is putting in a lot of effort in this process and they have at the same time been able to handle most of the backlog. We look forward to assisting all our clients with a much smoother and quicker move to Sweden.

Johanna & Susan in Denver

for the ERC Conference in October

As part of our commitment to continuous learning Johanna and Susan attended the ERC conference and training in Denver. It was a jam packed event with lots of meetings, events, volunteering, dinners and parties! And, the weather in Denver was fantastic even though it had snowed the week before! Definitely the best view of Denver and the mountains were seen at The Sky Club at The Spire. Every conference is a chance to catch up with partners and friends, but we always return with an inspiration or thought that we implement in our service program/communication/marketing or processes. You will soon see what we brought home this time.

Fun thing to do in Stockholm
Don’t miss Nick Brant’s exhibit at Fotografiska in Stockholm. It’s the most amazing collection of pictures of African animals! And don’t forget to have lunch and enjoy the view afterwards. Their hours are great as they are open until 9 PM every night. Everyone in our family enjoyed it from 4 years through the teens and adults alike. For more information please visit www.fotografiska.se. This show runs from October 7-January 8, 2012.
Best wishes for a productive fall!

Sincerely,

Featured TIRA member
Relo Japan
Newcomer’s is a proud member of the premier TIRA global network. In this issue we are featuring Steve Burson of Relo Japan and his five best things about Japan. They are:

1. The Food-

Japan is not just sushi! Did you know that Japan now has more 3 star Michelin restaurants than France? There is cuisine for everyone; beef, chicken, pork, fish, vegetarian. Can be really interesting!

2. The beautiful packaging of goods-

The Japanese are renowned for being very detailed, and their culture demands pride and respect in any item you “gift” to people. The way presents, food items and souvenirs are beautifully wrapped is an art to behold.

3. The kind and honest Japanese people-

Japan has one of the safest societies in the world, and this is all due to the honesty and great morals of the Japanese people. This is a country whereby if you lose your wallet there is a better chance of getting it back non-touched, than there is of it being stolen.

4.The traditional events, festivals and customs-

Japan is full of traditions and customs. Summer dances in yukata (light kimonos), ancient floats being dragged down historic streets, fireworks displays you wouldn’t believe and much much more. April, August and October are the best months to visit for festivals, but there is always something going on year round.

5. “Unagi” This is my favorite food. What is it?

It comes from rivers. They skin it, barbeque it and then apply this divine soya based sauce before throwing it on rice. I love it!

Relo Japan K.K. was founded in 2001 to provide comprehensive support in Japan for international assignees, their families, and their employers.
